Theological Reflection Papuans as the People of God
By: Pdt. John Calvin Nerotouw
"Once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord, because it lived as a child - a child of light" (Ephesians 5: 8)
Reflecting on some of the historical experiences that define the identity of Papua in the history of evangelism in Papua February 5, 1855 and integration into the Unitary Republic of Indonesia Papua 1963 to 2001 with the birth of the Special Autonomy, we will find that many times Papua reflect on his own life as a nation among the various nations surrounding . Papua reflection is so rich and full of principal - the principal theological tussle about Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation.
Eksitensi people of Papua as a reflection of God's people today ought to continue researched, understood, experienced and struggled with:
1. Papua God delivered from the powers of darkness
The living conditions of people of Papua who are in the power of darkness, fear, suspicion, hatred, tribalism, syncretism, poverty, laziness, ignorance and conflict between people is a theological reflection on the state and the order in which life may not find the proper enforcement of the award and for the dignity and human dignity.
Prayer Ottow and Geissler February 5, 1855 "In the Name of God, We Hit the Land It". This is the second coming of Missionaries of God's concern against the Papuans who live in darkness as well as freeing them to find eksitensinya as God's people. A conviction and confession of faith which we should note that God put a great concern about the condition and order the lives of Papuans.
Deliverance of God's work is intended to create a people who in all sectors of life took place justice. Liberation and action of God is focused on the birth of a new society, a society in which justice, brotherhood, respect, and integrity of life in the encounter.
2. Integration of the inspiring
At the time of integration into the Republic of Indonesia in 1963 until now Papua struggled for a full on Justice Peace and Integrity of Creation. Aware of his status as a nation that has been set free by God through Evangelism in 1855 people of Papua appear to provide protection, return and establish her own identity as God's people and convey hope to others who built that ".... now you are light in the Lord "(Ephesians 5: 8b). God entered into a bond with this agreement, both for those at Ephesus and the Papuan people because they receive the special status of all nations to become agents of God in the universal intention to liberate and save the creatures - his nation and of this nature, so in all it be obvious that God is the creator and maintainer as well as the savior of all people and creation.
Status keintegrasian papua became clear that integration into the Republic of Indonesia is not an end. God wants Papua to be a blessing for "all creation - His" ie the land and the environment by way of seeking and maintaining them (Gen. 2: 15).

3. Papua's future is now
Papua is now owned by whom? The question is very simple, a fact of injustice arises from the people of God in preserving God's creation.
Courses Merauke Integrated Food and Energy Estate (MIFEE), a project which claimed the government could improve the life of the people of Papua with a statement as follows:
"We're not the damned and the loss of identity that continues to abused & belittled other nations, lying, poverty, poverty, backwardness, violence and stupidity. But ... .... We should have become an independent nation, dignified and respected, independent, rich and glorious "
MIFEE Sumule Agus said the project is really very unfair because the responsibility of food security for Indonesia only be delivered and charged to one district and worse still to a single tribe. So do not be surprised that this can be seen as evidence of genocide is happening in Papua. Since the Dutch had no projects barns in Merauke and transmigration is also one program that was launched during the Dutch era, and now the same pattern also was declared in Merauke. Thus the conclusion who the ruler of this land still use the pattern and the same way. Responsibility for food security should have done from Aceh to Papua, NTT Sanger Talaut to sleep because of agricultural land exists in all regions of Indonesia, not only in Merauke.
"Walk as children of light" (Ephesians 5:8 c) Life as God's people should maintain Justice Peace and Integrity of Creation because we are no longer in darkness, but rather reflect the light. If we are honest, our whole being is light. Eksitensi people of Papua as the People of God is not like a sticker affixed to the outside so that people see who we are, but from within ourselves where the essence of life change and become a light for God's creation.
If our Father is a God of light, then we as His children are also supposed to be the children of light. This confirmed John in his letter, "God is light and in him there is absolutely no darkness. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, but we live in darkness, we lie and we do not do the truth. "(1 John 1:5-6). So if we are children of light, then we ought to reflect the light! by maintaining JPIC. The Word of God clearly states, "Ye are the salt of the earth. You are the light of the world. "(Matthew 5:13 a, 14a). These two things should be the basis of the strength of Papua as God's people in influencing the world.
Not that we should not hang out and make friends with the world, but rather emphasize that we should not compromise or cooperate with their dark deeds, "because the light is only the fruit of goodness and justice and truth," (Ephesians 5:9). In the midst of a world filled with impurity and lust, to destroy JPIC then, every child of God prosecuted for daring to be different and still emits rays kemulianNya.
Have we become a light to the Papuans?
